Three Great Reasons to Sell Your Laptop

Whether you've cherished your laptop for years and it has finally decided to give up on you, or whether it's time for your scheduled upgrade, there's a few ways you can get rid of your old laptop.
You may be thinking of taking it to the skip or throwing it in the bin to be recycled.
If you are thinking along these lines, then you may want to rethink your plans, as there can be money tied up in your technological little friend.
Read on to find out more.

Even if it's broke, it's worth something This is a major mistake that most people make.

They think that their laptop is no use to anybody because it doesn't work anymore.

Now, it's true that it's not going to be worth a lot to one of your friends for actual computing tasks, but there are plenty of companies who would happily take it off your hands.
Inside your laptop, there are loads of useful parts that can be recycled and re-used.

As we are all trying to reduce our carbon footprint, many companies are given incentives for recycling old parts and using them in new machines. So even if yours doesn't turn on, you can still sell if for cash. You can help the environment It can be extremely satisfying getting money for something that was just going to make its way to the bin.
However, it can be twice as satisfying if you know you'll be doing your bit to help the environment too.

As mentioned above, laptops contain many parts that are still useful, and many companies will happily pay you to get at those parts.

If you chuck your laptop away then you're limiting the amount of parts and components that can be recycled. If we all decided to recycle our laptops instead of throwing them away then the benefits to the environment will mount up to be quite substantial.
You won't have to worry about your files Another fantastic, but often overlooked reason to sell your laptop surrounds your sensitive data. Your old files cannot just simply be wiped off your hard drive.
In fact, many people do a simple hard drive wipe without actually realising that their data is still on the computer and can still be easily retrieved.

You can buy software to erase all of your sensitive data but this costs money. It makes a lot more sense to sell your laptop instead, as you'll be getting money (instead of spending it) and your data will be erased properly by the company you sell to.
